FAQ'S

Q: What does Gold and Rhodium Overlay mean?

A: Our overlay charms are real gold or real rhodium electroplated over brass.  Our items are not cheap quality, they're not gold color or gold tone, they're not made in China or Mexico, and they have more gold and rhodium on them than most anywhere else.  They are called "overlay" and not plated, because the word "plated" is associated with poor quality  Whether it's Rhodium, or 14, 18 or 24KT gold overlay, you are getting great quality items that are affordable and a fraction of the cost of solid gold.

Q: Do you have solid gold?

A: Yes, we have dozens of solid gold charms to choose from.  We have 10KT and 14KT. 10KT are not as shiny as 14KT, and 14KT are always more expensive.

Q: What is Rhodium?

A: Rhodium is one of the 6 members of the platinum family, and it's the most expensive precious metal in the world.  Rhodium does not tarnish, and it is used only as a plating material, simply because it is a very hard, durable metal.

Q: Are your silver charms real and is it the same as Rhodium?

A: Sterling silver is a mixture of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling Silver and Rhodium are completely different metals.  Rhodium looks like a brighter stainless steel color, and silver is more whitish.

Q: What is Gold Filled jewelry?

A: Gold filled jewelry is one step down from solid gold.  It has a base core of brass but is fully covered with an actual layer of gold, 5% of gold or 1/20 for 14KT filled and 3% of gold or 1/30 for our 18KT Brazilian Gold Filled charms.  These items literally have 60-100 times more gold on them than our overlay jewelry.

Q: Can I wear my jewelry all the time?

A: It depends.  All jewelry, whether solid gold, gold overlay, gold filled, sterling silver, copper, stainless steel, rhodium overlay or titanium, can be faded by harsh chemicals in cleaners, by lotions and especially in salt water or chlorine.  If you want your jewelry to last a long time, it's best to take it off when you're using chemicals or plan on being in the water.  This is especially true for overlay and silver items.

Q: Can I wear my magnetic bracelets all the time?

A: This is a similar answer to what was talked about above.  Technically, yes. However, it is not recommend wearing any magnetic items in water of any kind. The magnet is covered by a metal cap, followed by epoxy glue to hold the cap and magnet in, and continuous dips in the water, especially salt water or chlorine can eat away at the glue, allowing the water to rust the metal cap and then possibly getting the neodymium magnet rusty, as it is made partially of iron, which will rust. The plating on the bracelet should last a long time, but again, water will affect the looks of the item and fade the plating. The magnets themselves will always work, and they lose less than 1% of their strength over a 10 year period. Magnetic therapy has been around for over 2000 years!
